Spring Salon Exhibition

Please deliver your work to the storage room at the back of the studio. There will be a session running on this day so kindly keep interruptions to the class to a minimum.  There will be someone on hand in the storage room to receive your work. Please don’t deliver artwork to the Hawthorn Town Hall front desk.

If you can’t make it on Friday the 29th you may deliver your artwork from Monday the 25th to Sunday the 31st of August, during your normal session at HAS. If you can’t get to the studio between the 25th and the 31st August during your normal session, contact vice-president@hawthornartistsociety.org to make an alternative arrangement.

Deliver artwork Friday 29 August

If your application has been successful, you will receive a confirmation email containing further information on hanging requirements and labelling. Each artwork delivered to the Studio must comply with our hanging requirements and must be accompanied by an Artwork Label, with your contact details clearly identified. Cut out and securely attached the label to the back of each of your artwork pieces PLUS the information needs to be on the front of the packaged artwork. If you are submitting works on paper you may write the details lightly in pencil on the back if you are worried it will show through.

  • Your artwork needs to be packaged securely for storage. We have over 300 works coming in and whilst we will make every attempt to protect your work, you can make it much easier for us by properly protecting your own work.

  • Framed works, works on canvas etc should be wrapped in sturdy paper, card or preferably in bubble wrap.  We have a small amount in the stock room if you need some. Please make sure D-rings and wires are attached. Works without fittings may not be able to be accommodated in the exhibition.

  • Works on paper need to be delivered in a folio. You can use a pre-made one or make your own from card stock. As your folio will have your name on it we will endeavour to return it to you. Please ensure your works on paper are mounted on card. (There will be no magnet system this year.)

  • If you can’t make it on Friday the 29th you may deliver your artwork from Monday the 25th to Sunday the 31st of August, during your normal session at HAS. Please follow the directions on the sign-in table in the storage room closely so that we are able to find and keep a track of your work. In regard to delivering outside of your normal session, please note that the studio is only open when sessions are actually running. Some of those sessions are life drawing/painting sessions and you will not be able to access the studio. If you can’t get to the studio between the 25th and the 31st August during your normal session, contact me to make an alternative arrangement.

  • Please be very careful when putting your artwork on the shelves or in the large artwork storage area.  Each artwork is precious to someone.  Do not damage other artists’ work.  If you can’t find a space for your artwork please leave it on the central table rather than risk damaging anyone else’s work.

  • Non-compliant artwork or artwork received after this time may not be included in the exhibition.

  • After the exhibition, all unsold artwork must be collected from the HAS studio between 12 - 5pm Monday 8 September 2025. Alternatively, collect your artwork at your weekly session, until Sunday 14 September. To make an alternative arrangement, contact vice-president@hawthornartistsociety.org. Artwork not collected by this time may be disposed of or given to the abstract painters to paint over.

  • Sold work will be packaged and the buyers will be contacted for collection from the studio.

Terms and conditions:

By submitting your artwork and participating in this exhibit option your agreed to the following terms and conditions:

  1. All framed artwork must have D-rings and hanging wire attached;
