Opening Night

Join us for the Opening Night of Hawthorn Artist Society’s annual Members’ Exhibition, held in the beautiful Chandelier Room at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. All welcome.
Over 300 paintings and drawings will be on show, reflecting the breadth of figurative, landscape, and abstract work created through HAS’s studio program and by individual members. Most artworks will be available for sale.
The exhibition is open to the public between 10am to 4pm over the weekend. Entry is via the Arts Centre foyer.
Exhibition runs for three days only.

Deliver artwork Friday 11 September
Please deliver your successfully submitted work to the storage room at the back of the HAS Studio between 9am and 5pm on Friday 11 September, 2026.
HAS Volunteers will be on hand in the storage room to receive your work. Please remember not to deliver artwork to the Hawthorn Arts Centre front desk!
Note there will be an art session running in the Studio on this day, so kindly keep interruptions to the class to a minimum.
If you can’t make it on Friday 11 September, you may be able to deliver your artwork in the week before or after by prior arrangement. If necessary, please contact a convenor and arrange to drop off the artwork prior to their session. Note in this case, all artwork MUST be signed in and all instructions in the storage room must be followed.

Terms and Conditions:Please remember each artwork delivered must comply with our hanging requirements. See below. Non-compliant artwork, or artwork received after this time may not be included in the exhibition.
All artwork must be accompanied by a completed Artwork Label, with your name and artwork details clearly identified. These labels must be cut out and securely attached to the back of each of your artwork pieces. The Artwork Labels will be emailed to you separately.
You will be required to unwrap and retain possession of all wrapping at the time of delivery. Please remember to bring this wrapping back when collecting unsold work after the exhibition.
After the exhibition, all unsold artwork must be collected from the HAS Studio between 9am and 5pm on Monday 28 September, 2026. Alternatively, it may be possible to collect your artwork during a weekly session by prior arrangement, until Sunday 4 October. To make this alternative arrangement, please contact the convenor and arrange to collect the artwork prior to their session.
Artwork not collected by 4 October may be disposed of - or given to the abstract painters to paint over! Sold work will be packaged by the HAS Spring Salon Team, and the buyers will be contacted for collection from the HAS Studio.

By submitting your artwork and participating in this exhibition you agree to the following:
All framed and unframed artwork must have D-rings and hanging wire attached.
All unframed paper artwork must be mounted on a rigid board, with hanging wire attached.
All painted works must be dry.
All charcoal, graphite and pastel drawings must have fixative applied.
While all care will be taken, HAS and our volunteers take no responsibility for any damage to or loss of artwork that may occur during hanging or storage. It is your responsibility to wrap your artwork for transit outside HAS, and insure it against any damage or loss.
HAS and our volunteers will curate the exhibition without fear or favour, and no correspondence on the matter will be entered into.
