Have you wanted to try life drawing but felt intimidated by the human figure? The key isn’t talent; it is simply learning how to look. Most of us default to symbolic drawing—creating shapes from childhood habits rather than direct observation.
In this inclusive 9-week course, artist Mark Poulier strips away the guesswork by guiding you through time-tested and reliable methods of seeing proportion, shape, and form that he has gained from European Ateliers and his teachers over the years.
Working primarily in pencil, we will break the process down into manageable stages from the block-in to rendered tone. We will also spend a week working with charcoal to explore the fluid energy of gestural drawing.
