The art of collaborative printmaking
Join us for a free artist talk by Jennifer Tarry-Smith (Salt Press) and Kyoko Imazu. Drawing on their experiences working together, they will discuss the creative exchange between artist and printer, the technical and experimental possibilities of lithography, and the ways collaboration can shape an artwork from its initial concept through to the final print.
Free to attend, bookings are essential, all are welcome. Refreshments served and time to mingle after the talk.
Be inspired by a range of approaches to the work.

About Kyoko Imazu
Kyoko is a Melbourne-based visual artist working across printmaking, papercut, shadow puppetry, ceramics, and installation. Her work invites viewers to look closely at the micro-ecologies that surround us, capturing the unique stories embedded in indigenous plants, insects, and urban wildlife.
Through an imaginative, often animist lens, she explores themes of life, death, and ecological memory, drawing inspiration from indigenous Victorian flora local to her—such as Murnong, Basalt daisies, and remnant grassland species—alongside the delicate creatures that depend on them.
Beyond her studio practice, Kyoko is a dedicated conservationist actively involved in local environmental protection and habitat restoration. As the founder of Friends of Hillcroft Park, she leads community-driven biodiversity initiatives, seed propagation, and citizen science projects. Her creative practice and conservation work inform one another, inspiring a deeper collective care for local ecosystems.
About Jennifer Tarry-Smith
Jennifer is a collaborative printer and founder of Salt Press, a Melbourne-based collaborative lithography studio dedicated to experimentation, technical excellence and long-term partnerships with artists. Following her completion of the Printer Training Program at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico (2024–25), she returned to Australia and established Salt Press, currently operating out of Lancaster Press in Melbourne.
Alongside her collaborative printing practice, Tarry-Smith is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist working across printmaking and painting. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Drawing and Printmaking from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2018, she has exhibited in over 25 national and international exhibitions and worked with several collaborative print workshops. She is also a printmaking technician and lecturer at RMIT University.
